For one thing, the raccoons do NOT seem to be rabid. And they do make a run for it if you approach the dumpster (which seems to be cleaned up every day after the raccoons make a mess over there). Also, I wouldn't call the "pit bull" population "out of control"--I've seen 2, one of which is moving out. The other one is pretty fat. I worry more about my young male Sheltie getting scrappy with another male dog than I do about him getting attacked.
I recently moved here from Illinois and needed a place quickly where I could have 2 dogs. It's OK. So far I haven't used any of the amenities, so I can't comment on that, but I do enjoy being close to the park--my dogs tried to chase a deer the other evening. This close to the woods, and in a place built on a slab, you have to expect spiders/ants/other bugs.
I live on the 1st floor, but the only real noise I hear is the people upstairs running up and down the stairs. Haven't heard any big parties, or seen any drunk people
Yes, the appliances are older, but they seem to work just fine. The cabinets are pretty cheap. MY apartment is rather small, but I downsized from a 4-bedroom townhome, so that's no surprise. AND, having come from the Chicago area, I have to say that the rent seems really, really cheap to me.
