The place was okay...

The price wasn't horrible. The amenities were to make up for it. Later, I'd find that they removed the sign for the heated pool, and the tennis court lights wouldn't function a single time. The tanning bed was broken for half of my stay and the sauna hadn't worked in over a year. Hmpf.
On a positive note, they were really good about occupancy laws. They didn't pass up a single chance to point out that my girlfriend was over all the time and spent more than a few nights a week over. I'm not a puritan. I never claimed to be. She was ousted from the pool once or twice. That's okay with me. They had every right to do that. I wish they followed building code with the same fervor. The temporary stairs that were up while they were working on our staircase was flimsy at best. Animal waste was everywhere. That's not directly a management problem, but they should enact tenant regulations on waste disposal. Maintenance was done well, though. Very prompt with a work order each time.
On a personal note, the office girls are reputed to be promiscuous. A unit next to us was vacated and turned into a demo unit, but before it was cleaned out, it was "broken in" with a huge loud party. The office girls/management and the groundskeepers were in attendance. I overheard a couple of the groundskeepers give a detailed history of what girls had performed which sex acts that night and on other nights. They also discussed drug habits. As this is hearsay, I don't expect you to take that into account when signing a lease here. I wish, though, that all employees would exercise discretion in public, and not throw parties next door to me. If I wanted to complain, who would I have complained to'

The place was okay - You're a better person than I - the place is a dump! That is why it is so hard to get out of the lease. I was definitely expecting better construction for the cost. I can't wait until my lease is over. I could go on and on but will spare you. I really want to address you're comment of "who would I complain to?" That is a great question. Part of the facilities responsibility is to clear the snow but my roommate and a few other people could not get their vehicles out of the driveway on Sunday evening when it snowed. I'd love to complain but to whom? I can't wait to leave Chestnut Ridge and the freezing cold pool! The only thing I will miss is the location.
