This place has absolutely gone down hill in a matter of months. The rent goes up a ridiculous amount every year while the service can't get any worse.

I pay nearly $700/mo for a 1 bedroom piece of S$*T. They claimed to replace the windows in October and yet it's February and I still have old windows. That's ok though b/c windows shouldn't be replaced in the winter anyway--just like you don't paint and replace concrete in winter as well. They have hired people to do all of these tasks in the dead of the winter cold and the workers' citizenship status is blatantly questionable--they can't speak a lick of English. They shut the water off and give you less than 6 hours notice. The maintenance makes seasonal repairs and doesn't even have the courtesy to leave your place in the way that it was left.
To anyone thinking about living here--A MORTGAGE IS BETTER and CHEAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manager's Response

The resident writing this is paying a month-to-month rate on their apartment which is $100/month more than their rent increase amount. If a lease renewal is signed for 12 months the rent will not exceed the current market rent.

The window replacement project did start in October 2005 but is not scheduled to be completed until late this year. We could not possibly install 415 sets of apartment windows at a rate of 2-3 a day in less than 4 months. To date the project is 60% complete. Dreyfuss does not discriminate and will employ workers who are capable of doing the job no matter what their language capabilities are.

Recently the building in which I live and the Crane Village workers live in, caught fire. The workers' apartment was set ablaze when their bed caught fire. I was in the buidling just doors away from the fire and my smoke and fire alarms did not go off. Five fire trucks responded to the blaze and my alarm did not signal me to leave the building! I was told by someone in the office that the alarms do not go off unless you have smoke in your apartment. She also claimed that the fire alarms were up to code. I feel unsafe living in a building where black smoke can be pouring out of the windows just doors away in the same building and the alarm does not sound.

Crane Village should check into the working status of their employers to ensure the safety of the residents. Also they should check into how many people were living in the unit that caught fire, I saw many people in and out of there constantly.

Also the aparment complex has shut off are water multiple times sometimes with out notice and never with the proper amount of notice. I was told by an officer worker that management was going to compensate the tenants but to date we haven't received so much as an apology. This complex is poorly managed. I have friends that also live in other Dreyfuss owned buildings and they too are now looking for suitable living arrangments elsewhere.
