Crane Village is not too bad

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I have gone through all of the reviews posted here. I am also quite happy that the management regularly reviews what people write, so I thought I'd put in my own comments too. I intend to keep this review honest and unbiased.
Let's go over the problems one at a time:
1. Management Staff Attitude - I moved into CV in the second half of 2005, so I have been in the place more than 6 months now. When I moved in, the staff at the Leasing Center was quite courteous and helpful. I was quite fussy and wanted to see about three different types of apartments that they had available and the staff cheerfully obliged.
2. Move-in woes - Everything in my apartment worked fine, except a few minor problems. When I reported these to the management, they were fixed a little late - they said it was due to the holiday season - I didn't mind that. Everything was fixed in one go, I felt no need to call them in again and the person that fixed it up was helpful and nice.
3. Neighbor Noise issue - I have had none whatsoever. I do hear noises from the neighboring apartment (like running water etc), but that will happen everywhere that you have wooden walls. My neighbors are nice and tolerant people - no one has complained about my kid's jumping or ball bouncing so far.
4. The Laundry - A bit inadequate - two washers and dryers between 24 apartments - the management tells me they are going to add some more. The machines are coin-eaters, but if you call the Continental Laundry company, you will get a refund, and I can't really blame this on the management.
5. The Grounds and Surroundings - Are well kept and maintained. The Tennis Courts and Basketball courts are in good condition and they added a new kids play area which is also good. They keep the walks and roads nice and driveable when it snows and salt them well too. The road leading into the property needs improving badly - I don't know why it is neglected.
6. Overall Maintenance - Is average and can improve. They take quite a while to fix small probles and at times you need to remind them. But they are replacing a lot of things like the windows. I have seen numerous comments about the poor quality of wood and construction, but then that was what you signed up for. I got what they showed me, so I can't complain. When the water main broke two times, management tried their best to assist.
7. Parking - Could improve a bit. I sugest management to provide some sheltered parking (not necessarily garages) for small extra fees. Also, they could allot one fixed space per apartment bedroom, if you have 6 cars and a 2 BR apartment, you have at least 2 fixed spaces.
8. Ethnic/Foreign Groups - No problems again. Overall there is a mix of Asians, Caucasians, -----Americans, -------, Chinese living and I've never had problems with anyone.

Thank you so much for your review of our community! It's nice to see positive comments on a website that is almost geared toward angry residents. The office and maintenance staff do our very best to serve all residents in a timely manner. Some comments you touched on couldn't have been stated any more plain and clear. I do have three items on your list that I would like to respond to though. Item #4-Laundry-The new washers and dryers will be installed mid June. Item #5-Grounds-The entry road to the community (Elmspring Court) belongs to the city of Pittsburgh and we have asked them to do a milling and complete asphalt overlay, but they have turned us down several times already. Item #7-Parking-I think that carports would be an excellent improvement to our community. I will actively work on getting proposals together to have my corporate office review. |
