In my two years at Crane Village, I have had much more problems than it is ever worth. Besides the annual rent increase with not a single added ammentity or increase in service, i have had more issues as the time goes on. In my first year here my apartment was broken into, even though there is a security door, a jimmy bar was not supplied by the complex, which allowed someone to break into my sliding glass door. The FBI was investigating the tenant across the hall for being a terrorist, yet none of the residents in the building were notified of the possible harm to them. The supposed terrorist stole other residents mail and broke into the apartment they were in after they left. (we frequently find people in our building that do not belong, even though they can not enter the building without the security door key) I was taken to court by Crane Village in the winter when there was an issue with my payroll at work. A letter was sent to the office from my work explaining that the delay in rent payment was no fault of my own. I was in court 2 weeks later. (Although less than a year prior a male tenant went to the office the week rent was due and told the office management that his wallet was stolen. When he did pay rent 3 weeks later, the tenant wasn't even charged the late fee) I paid almost $400 in addition to my rent that month, although i had a lagitimate reason. The week after I was in court i went to the office and sat with the manager discussing maintainance issues in my apartment. I had her put in a maintainance request for about a half a dozen issues. That was at the end of January. Maintainance has still not come to fix the issues, and it is now the end of July. Although i was told by the staff when i called them, that they had been there, yet the "mandatory" maintainance slip had not been left, and nothing had been fixed. So that means that maintainance was in my apartment, and didn't do anything they were supposed to (so what were they doing while they were there') There was an illegal abandoned car left in the very limited parking lot last year. Crane Village has a "strict" policy that untagged cars will be towed. I called once a week for 5 months to have the car towed. It took almost 6 months for the car to be moved. the first winter here, not a single resident recieved a gas bill until mid January and was expected to pay the amount in full within 2 weeks, not to the gas company, but to the leasing office, because they had illegally billed from a third party. At that time, we found that our thermostat had been broken and that was the cause for our enormously high electric bills throughtout the winter months. Although the leasing office adjusted our gas bill, in addition i requested a print out of the difference to give to the electric company so that we could be readjusted for our electric use. Athough i called frequently and asked everytime i was in the office, i have still not recieved the adjustment. Its been 1 1/2 years since then. The leasing office told me repeatedly that a $100/month electric bill was normal. My bill hasn't been half that high since the problem was fixed (which took several months itself) Overall, this was the worst rental i have ever had. I have lived in half a dozen rental properties prior to my stay here, and nothing has come close to the neglect that i have recieved from Crane Village and their staff.

RE: unmarked/untagged cars- next time call the police. I have learned the hard way to not even bother with the office staff on this issue. As for the other issues- I am not suprised! |

You poor thing! There was an abandoned car in our lot as well. Nothing happened for about 5 months and then one day it was gone. We didn't complain about it because our lot had many spaces, but I can see how annoying that would be.

I was the resident in the apt across the hall when the FBI came calling. The FORMER tenant was the one they were tracking down, not me, and the former tenant, unbeknownst to me at the time, was staying in my apt with his APT KEY (The locks were never changed when he moved out) while I was at work -- at County 911 -- on my midnight shifts. I was terrified, sleeping with a knife under my bed when I was advised by FBI. I moved out as soon as possible after that, as I was getting married, and I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPLEX TO ANYONE. I was never subject to such terror in all of my life. My checkbook, personal ID information, and identity was stolen, my pc was hacked by the wanted ------, and I was advised by the FBI that if I ever saw this person around the campus, I was to quietly retreat and call them. Crane was advised, and complained when I demanded the locks changed, and they did nothing else despite being at fault for this a*shole being in my apartment. I hate that complex.
