Haunted (no joke)

Most will dismiss this as crazy talk, but the Fairfax is an extremely eerie place to say the least. Lived in a studio there alone 1996-97 while attending CMU. Before moving in, I had heard from former tenants about strange things happening there (i.e. elevator door and bell going bonkers on its own in the middle of the night; heavy steel emergency exit door creaking open and shut by itself), but I didn't believe them. Boy was I wrong! I constantly heard footsteps of a person pacing around in my apartment (no, it wasn't coming from upstairs or nextdoors - it was IN my apt), heard so clearly all day and night that I couldn't sleep there anymore. Electronics were also always going berserk - tv turning on/off by itself, messages on the answering machine with sounds that were so bizarre I can't even describe. The scariest was when one day I came home to find out that the timer on the cooking range had been ringing - I never set the timer in the first place, and I had never ever used the thing before. I'm sane and I'm not making any of this up. Having said that, the majority of the individual units in the building are probably "safe", and I think my unit just happened to come with an "old tenant who never left". To be fair, the Fairfax is a great location and well maintained with friendly staff. I'm just not sure if can recommend it given my "experiences" there.
