Nicer than most, but not worth the $$

I lived in the Fairfax from 8/99-4/00. I was disappointed to find that living on the east side of the building gave me trains all night long, bus noise all night long, the garbage truck at 5 a.m. (living on the 7th floor did not help as one previous poster thought), the flood of sunlight at dawn, and basically no sleep all year. Also, my apt was near the garbage chute, so I had lots of foot traffic (and talking) all night long as college girls seem to dump their garbage in pairs late at night. The drunk stumbling home also disturbed sleep Thur, Fri, and Sat. It had a smell that was at times nauseating, probably just old musty building smell. The mgmt did help solve a noisy neighbor dispute (never heard another peep) that was also affecting sleep. example: 2:30 a.m. at full voice "Hey honey, what's a 9 letter word for famous hollywood director that starts with 'S''" "SPIELBERG" then came bellowing forth from the other side of the apt. Well that was the funniest one. Hope you enjoyed it more than me.
