Not suitable living for anyone

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002

I lived in the Fifth Ave Gardens apartments run by the same reality that runs Brentshire Gardens. In the year that I lived there, they had little to no concern about the sanitary issues at the apartments. The ceiling in the bathroom was leaking unknown waste and when I called the emergency line they asked me if it could wait until Monday, keep in mind this was Friday afternoon. After the ceiling finally stopped leaking, there was severe water damage that was ignored. The bathroom toilet was growing a mushroom-like fungus that was also completely ignored by the maintenance person, who was impossible to get ahold of and when you did never got to your problems. After paging him about twice a week for a couple of months it was time for us to move out...to the best of my knowledge, that problem was never taken care of.

The groundskeeping was another issue. The back of the apartment by the parking lot was always overgrown and had rats, roaches, and slugs as big as your hand. There is also very little lighting in the back lot. There is ivy growing up the wall that makes it hard to close the windows. There is little housekeeping in the buildings. In the year that I lived there the halls were only swept and cleaned when someone was moving in.

The office, run by Pine Tree Group, are the most inconsiderate, rude people I may have ever dealt with. They do not care or listen to the problems that you have. I have been hung up on when just asking a question. These are the same people that wanted me to live with my leaking bathroom sink for three days. A tree fell on my car, this was the second car in about six months that had a tree fall on it, and when we called the office, they did not care and were not even sympathetic. They immediately told us to not expect them to pay for it as it was an act of god. Well, it's odd that so many
acts of god occur in that parking lot.

I would not recommend that anyone, especially first time renters go to this building or any of the buildings that they own. The weekend that I moved out, 8 other tenants moved out. And don't expect to see the security deposit. You will not get any of it no matter how you leave the apartment.
