Find somewhere else to live! From: shadysiderenter Date posted: 4/23/2006 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006   I have lived in this apartment for 2 years. I am totally unimpressed. My apartment itself is ok. The bedroom and living room are large, but the kitchen is TINY- no room to work, and it's hard to even fit 2 people in it at once. In the winter it is SO cold- the heat really doesn't work well and the windows provide no insulation at all, and it is very drafty. The apartments don't appear to have been updated since the 80's. Walls are cracking, the plaster is chipping, etc. There are vines growing up the outside walls which cling to the screens and are just ugly. Also- in the spring and summer there are HUGE slugs that are everywhere in the back of the building. The outdoor lights rarely work, so it is very dark at night. The parking lot is horrible. You have to go up a hill from 5th Ave. to the parking lot behind the building. Good luck getting up the hill in the winter- it is rarely shoveled or salted and is generally a solid sheet of ice. The parking lot is also a sheet of ice in winter. The maintainence people really don't do anything about it, no matter how many times you complain. I woke up more times than I can count to people spinning their car tires and being totally stuck in the parking lot due to the snow and ice. The maintainence people are generally a pain. They come into your apartment without notice, and usually don't leave a note on your door that they were even there. But you'll know that they were, because your apartment will have caulk all over the place or have dirt on the floor and junk in the trash. And don't trust that your belongings are safe- I had at least 1 item stolen from my apartment during the time the maintainence people were in it. When I brought this to management's attention, they did nothing. Although it's one of the more reasonably priced places in Shadyside- keep looking. There has GOT to be a place with better management, maintainence and upkeep!
