i never have actually rented one of these apartments, but I can tell you what my first opinon of the place was from when I visited the location while looking for an apartment. The neighborhood was very nice looking... I was thinking that this was going to be the place that I would end up renting...judging by now nice the community looked from the outside. But the outside of the buildings were about the only thing that was nice about these places. This is what you would call a slum lord. You know, the landlord who puts NO money back into the apartments. The paint is just splattered up on the walls, paint all over the baseboards and carpets. I noticed a huge bulging crack in the wall of the one apartment we toured, that was literally like 5 feet long. The carpets were a dark brown icky color, the kitchens are absolutley disgusting (the cabinets are falling apart, the laminet was peeling off of them and they stuck shut, had to pull on them to open them up). NO closet space, spiders and tons of dirt and cobwebs all over the hallways to the shared entry apartments. I felt like I was entering an apartment in the ghetto somewhere judging by how the entry ways looked. The laundry facilities are in a gross, dark, filfhy basement. While walking around the complex, garbage was all over the ground... fast food bags, newspapers, plastic bags, etc... Not a good impression thats for sure.
I can honeslty not think of anything good that I noticed about this place when I toured it, except how the buildings looked from the outside. Maybe if they would put some of the rent money back into the apartments and do a little bit of updating, especially to the kitchens and bathrooms, it would be a much nicer place to live. And I did tour 3 apartments, so I know that these problems were just not centralized one apartment, they were common in all three of them
I ended up renting a much cleaner, nicer, more spacious apartment that was just a little bit more a month. (And its only about 5 minutes away from Govenors Ridge) So if its important for you to live in a nice, clean, updated apartment where you don't feel like you're living in the 70's.. there's definitley other places out there... just keep looking.
