don't even bother to check it out

The location is great. That's the only nice thing I have to say.
When we first moved in, it was a really nice place. Granted, we have one of the more newly renovated apartments so the review about the nasty old brown carpets and cabinents that are falling apart don't apply to us. The neighboorhood was nice, safe, and in a great location. The staff was super friendly and the price was fair.
Now our lease expires in a few months and we can't wait to get out. Some months after we moved in, the fire hydrant broke and caused a waterfall of sorts on the stairs near our complex. This made the ground under the street weak. Then in the winter when the snow came, and the plows, they made huge gaping holes in the streets. Granted the management did try very hard, for a long time, to get this fixed and eventually (after maybe 5 months) it was. But it also left a stream of rocks on our one hillside that has not been cleared away yet. It looks horrible.
Another thing is maintenance. For the most part, the guy comes pretty quickly... though sometimes he just doesn't come at all. But the problem is almost never properly fixed. We've had a running toilet since we moved in a year and a half ago. We've given up on trying to get it repaired.
Utilities! You know from the get go that these guys cover NOTHING. Not even sewage. When we moved in we were all pretty new to the renting game so we asked about how much heat cost in the winter. The guy told us that he blasted his heat all winter long and the highest his bill ever got was $80. Wrong! Try $140. I know that gas has gone up but not THAT much. And this is only for a 2 bedroom apartment. I don't know how normal that is but the point is that he lied to get us to move in. Don't trust them!
Security! Our storage room (which is a decent sized amount of space blocked off by chicken wire) has been broken into multiple times. We've told them about it every time and they've done nothing. Finally when our roommate moved out, we took all the stuff and put it in his bedroom. That shouldn't be necessary.
In our two bedroom apartment there are only 4 closets. None of them are large by any means.
Our neighbors are a pain. I realize that this can happen in any apartment complex but ours are in college, are extremely noisy, and have had the police called on them... not by us. Plus the hallways reeks of something coming from them. We used to feel safe here and would take walks late at night. We don't do that anymore.
After all of this, after one year was up our rent increased by $430 for the year. Has any of that gone into improving this place' Not a cent.
Don't waste your time. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
