Rental rates lower for some, higher for others From: dontrentattheridge Date posted: 11/14/2005 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005   I've been here since July 2004, when I moved in my rent was 629 plus 35 for my pets. When I renewed my lease this year, the rent went up to 654 plus 35 for my pets. I have a neighbor who is paying 619 and someone else in my building was paying 569....for the same exact cookie cutter apt!!! This place is nasty, the paint in my apartment is peeling, the ceiling in one of the bedrooms looking like it is going to come down,the utilities are high, because the furnace is 18 yo (one bedroom is hot in the summer, cold in the winter) and spiders galore. There are cracks in the brickwork of the building, and the fake shutters are coming down. The laundry rooms are like dungeons. Spider webs all over the place! If you sit down and compare what you are getting for what you are not, you are better off going someplace else. Don't let them fool you into thinking this is a wonderful place to live! There are 6 apartments that I know of that are empty. (4 in my building alone) from people who just got fed up!
