I've lived in 5644 Hempstead for the last year and I really enjoy it here. Perfect for one person, but it would be a little tight for a couple (although there is at least one in my building).

Pros of the building:
- quiet, mostly grad students (and not too croweded - only 12 apartments)
- balcony (big enough for a grill and chair)
- newly renovated (all new appliances and carpeting)
- air conditioning
- tennis courts and bball courts across the street
- in door parking (extra $50 a month - but crucial in those winter months)
- 2 sets of washer/dryers in basement (coin operated)

Cons of the building:
- I don't know about other apartments, but I'm on the 2nd floor and I can usually hear the guy walking around above me - you get used to it though
- since it's an old building, I've had some trouble with the electricity (but each time i've called to have them fix it they have been there the next day)
- sometimes it is difficult to control the temperature of the shower (too hot or too cold....) but once you get the master touch of how to handle it isn't too bad
- The mail system is not very good - tiny mailboxes for each person so if you get a magazine the guy just leaves it at the front and you have to sift through all the other catalogs and junk to find it. In addition, I think a few of my magazines have been stolen by other tenants.

All in all, I like this place a lot and I've renewed my lease for next year. I am a Pitt Law student and it is perfect for the time that I actually have to spend in it.
