Great place, great location

My husband and I have been in our current apartment for one and a half years. We are very happy with our apartment and it's location. Though it's only a 1 bedroom, it is still spacious. When we moved in, the carpet was brand new and the apartment freshly painted. Central air is a must in any apartment and our heating bills were never too high. Only about 15-20 minutes to downtown. The shower always had hot, hot water no matter what time of day you took it and how long you spent in it. One bad thing though is that the pet fee is $40 no matter what kind of pet you have. A little unfair if you have a cat compared to a 50 lbs dog. It should be prorated on your pet's size and breed. And cats should be cheaper than dogs. Also, there could be better lighting outside in the back of the apartments. However, I've always felt safe here. The security guard at the gate always is friendly and makes me feel even more safe. Plus, the unimart is a great idea for when you need something in a hurry. The maintenence people always show up within the hour depending on how bad the problem is. Snow removal is always done early in the morning and is kept up with the snowfall. One worker even helped my husband dig his car out of the snow when he was stuck. Some people do not pick up after their pets. The office says they enforce a fine, but how could they monitor that' However, it is always cleaned up though, probably by maintence. Considering the recent fire in one of their apartments, you'd think everyone would be required to buy a fire extinguisher or they would give us one. And there are no sprinklers in the apartments. The pool is usually busy on a good day so you have to get there early to get a chair, unless you're happy on the grass. One thing that is terrible though is that we received the sunday paper, the post-gazette and unless we got to the paper when it was first delivered, someone had already taken our paper than WE paid for. That's not the complexes fault but we were very upset that most Sunday's we did not receive the paper that we paid for because someone had stolen it. FYI, if you move in here, buy the post-gazette down at the unimart and save yourself the aggravation. All in all, we've really liked this place and is has been very convenient to go to work downtown.
