Above average for a Pitt/CMU student

Note: my "overall recommendation" applies only to college students; if you're working or want a non-college type place, this is not for you. I lived in the 317 N. Craig building.
This place is better than almost all South Oakland locations and better than most in North Oakland, especially considering the price (which includes water and hot water). Of course, this isn't saying much, as those of you who know the Oakland area know. The apartments aren't falling apart, and the rooms are large. They are clean when you move in. The management is nice, and will assist you in finding subletters. The parking is on street only (no permit required); it can get a bit crowded on some days. When someone reported roaches in their apartment, they promptly exterminated in all the units, and have been following through every month. When a washer/drier breaks down, the service usually responds the same week.
Negatives: some units don't have very good noise insulation, and units in the "middle" of the building don't get too much sunlight. Some units are a tight fit for moving big furniture into. The water pressure/temperature varied quite a bit in our shower (we didn't report this). There is no intercom, only a doorbell, and you can't buzz people in.
Our electric bill was about $50/month, with not to much heat usage. You can get DSL. AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt
