I lived here for a year, and it was terrible. The building is extremely old and poorly insulated, so for a three bedroom our gas bill was $600 a month during the winter. They never salt or shovel the sidewalks. The floors are slanted. The people in the rental office are downright nasty. We never got our security deposit back, even after repeated requests. And, worst of all, it was crazy expensive. Our rent was $1175 a month, not including gas or electric. You can find much cheaper and better places in Oakland, and definitely in other parts of the city. That's why I moved to Friendship - check it out.
