I've lived in both the Wendover (Sq. Hill) and the Tamarind (Regent Sq.) and have not much to complain about. Yes, the rent increases every year, which is expected. Nothing too exorbitant, around $30 or so. Maintenance has always been there within a few hours when I've called about an issue. In the Wendover, in particular, the maintenance staff is very friendly. It would benefit you to be nice to them! They even gave me a dolly to help me move stuff in. Also, I left a stereo outside momentarily, returned to find it gone, and was complaining to my friend. A maintenance guy overheard me, and went and got the stereo for me-- his friend had thought it was abandoned and taken it into the workroom. He could've never returned it, and I'd never have known!
The office staff is professional. The lease does suck, yes, but as long as you abide by it, and don't plan on moving out early (because you'll have to pay the entire remainder of the lease, unless they find someone to take it over), you'll be fine. As for the previously mentioned weird "apartment inspections", I was home during one, and the guy was really nice about it. He explained that they do them because they've had prior tenants who were really filthy and left dishes, pots, pans, etc. on the floor and created a pest problem. They're not going to tell you to pick up your clothes and wash that pan in the sink. They're just making sure you're not destroying their apt by living in squalor!
As for the sidewalks, they are always salted and shoveled. They do a fantastic job with that. And they landscape really well. The Wendover, in particular, had gorgeous flowerbeds and immaculate green grass behind the wrought iron fences. In all honesty, I would recommend Mozart to a friend!

I have to disagree with part of our post. I have lived in the Wendover Annex for 2 years and I have had a different experience with the building manager and the inspections. First, I haven't had any problems with them for the past 1.5 years; it was only upon my decision to move out have I seen the absolute illegality and lack of respect shown by Mozart Management. The building manager for the Wendover Annex is both abrasive, lies, and does not seem to have respect for other human beings. They had an "inspection" to ensure that we were not living in squalor. Upon reading the things on the list of the "inspection" I realized it was more of a chore list than an "inspection" list. This was especially surprising given the fact that the lease I signed had no mention of "inspections" (I searched by myself and with her, she eventually conceded and said that "inspection" falls under "maintenance"). During this original inspection I was told that (a) dishes in the sink, soaking mind you, were a violation and need to be cleaned. She basically told me that I cannot let dishes sit in my sink. She informed me, like you, that they don't care if there were clothes strewn about. However, I just received another inspection (for reasons unknown since during the previous one she had told me our apartment did not require a follow-up because we were fine). In this "inspection" my chore list was complete: apparently a sweatshirt, a sweater, and a pair of pants made her mark that there were clothes strewn about in our living room. I will be the first to admit that there are tidiness issues (but our apartment is by no means unclean), but when you work 90 hours a week you would think that people would have some level of understanding. Not Mozart management though. I want to make people informed that this is not the norm. I have known multiple people who have rented through Mozart and they made them feel more like children being looked after by parents than adults who can make their own decisions.
