great if you want mugged

This apartment is beautiful and I am sad to part with it. My biggest complaint has come in since the management decided to put up a sign out front of the building that says "Luxury Apartments" AKA big red target for the criminal element.

My biggest complaint when I moved in was noise. The shared walls are nothing but drywall, and no insulation. I can hear every word of my neighbors conversations. Not that I want to, but my bedroom wall is against his couch. It is like someone is in the room with you. We were so appalled that we actually pulled off an outlet cover to prove to ourselves that it was just drywall. Unfortunately, we were correct. Just my drywall and the neighbors drywall.

Maintenance is poor when it comes to getting something done other than changing a light bulb. We had a problem with our water tank running out of hot water (and I have never had this problem before) I know at least how to adjust the temperature, and when that didn??t work, I called management. When I came home from work 2 days later, there was a sign on my door that maintenance had been there and that ??our water temperature was set on 130.?? I know that. I set it. I couldn??t get them to do anything else about it.

One of the more troubling things is the quality of my floor. It has started to hump up in certain areas, suggesting a serious subsiding of the building. It is enough that I question whether supporting walls were removed.

The fire exits have steps made of wood. I don??t know about you, but that doesn??t seem right.

The worst part is the muggings. My roommate was almost carjacked. Our neighbor was mugged walking about a half a block away from the building. Much of this has increased since that Luxury sign was put outside. There are several rumors of being held up at gunpoint in the back alley. Oh, by the way, don??t park in the back alley. You will get towed. I have even heard that the city will tow your U Haul.

So, while a beautiful apartment, and I love my walk to work, and I love all the convenience, safety takes precedence, and alas, I look elsewhere.
