This is a beautiful building in a great area downtown. The units are stylish and very comfortable.

I've read the other reviews and understand the concerns about safety. But you must remember that you cannot have downtown living, anywhere, without the potential for typical urban crime. I have lived here four years and never had a problem and never personally seen anything alarming.
Except for later in the night, there are a lot of people downtown: conventions, theater, sports, restaurants. Enough to make a person feel safe.
Later in the night, after 10:00 pm - one must be careful about where they venture alone. This is a reality in any big or medium sized city. If you can't accept that, then downtown living is probably not for you.

The only negative in my perspective is noise from neighbors. If your neighbor is a late night partier and music lover - you will have a noise problem. It's too bad the walls between units are not as solid as they appear to be, but it's a matter of construction economics. This is no different from any other apartment I have lived in.

All considered, I have loved living here.

The thing about "typical urban crime" in general is that it varies based on which neighborhood, block, or street that you live on in any given city. The problem with these apartments is that they are located in an area where there is a crowd of "convention, theater, sports and restaurant" goers. Translation: easy pickins. People are more likely to rob a stranger who might be carrying a higher amount of cash than their good ol' neighborhood Joe. The "Theater District" is a magnet for criminal activity, muggings and armed robberies. I lived in downtown for several years and the fact of the matter is you are in the equivilant of urban pioneerland with this place. There are many areas of this city which do not have the potential for this type of "typical urban crime." People come to websites like these for realistic information about a new home. And the reality is that you are going to be able to find a much safer, more cost effective solution in a different part of the city. Sometimes it just isn't worth the risk. And I don't think that it is fair to categorize the type of activity that goes on around this building as "typical urban crime". You are more like a sitting duck in a war zone. Let's face it. Do you hear about this high volume of activity in other neighborhoods which are typically categorized as safe? Answer, no. The bottom line is that this part of the city is not safe. And people have a right to know that even if the City of Pittsburgh is trying to promote this as a residential area.
