list of pros and cons for renting from URE, i lived in South Windsor:

pros:
-i lived in north oakland, and my rent was the cheapest, compared to other apartments
-apartment was what i needed
-laundry in the basement
-good location if you are a student, right between Pitt and CMU

cons:
-landlord does not fix or DO anything unless it's an urgent, URGENT emergency (told me he would replace window screens and until this day (3 years later) they are still not there)
-tells you the apartments are clean when you move in, i assure you they are not

-will do anything to get extra money out of you. THIS is the biggest problem i have with URE (as i am sure anybody would have a problem with this). they have charged me late fees for several months of rent. however, when i told them that my bank statements and check images (provided by PNC bank) tell me that i did, indeed, make my payments on time, they were unreasonable and did not try to professionally resolve the issue.

the woman i spoke to, who is the leasing agent for URE, does not have any sense of customer respect or professionalism. when i tried to explain that i should not have to pay the late fees, she began to interrupt me and gave me many excuses about the post office sending checks in late, they deal with many checks at a time, etc. etc. in the end, she still could not explain to me why i should have to pay the late fees other than they received the checks late when my bank statements show me clearly on which dates the rental checks were deposited by URE (ALL before the rent due date). in the end, she hung up to pick up her cell phone call.

i have lived with URE for 3 years and generally haven't had a problem with them other than the landlord not fixing things. i did not start to have problems until URE got this leasing agent. it may just be her. but even if it is just her, it ruins the whole image and any reputation URE might have.

if you do decide to stay with URE, make sure you get everything in writing. when they tell you that you don't have to pay some fee, make sure you ask them for that waiver in writing. don't depend on their honesty. i did and now i'm paying for it (pun unintended).
