It's Old.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2009
We have lived here for a couple of years now, and it seems each year is worse than the last. We live in a first floor apartment with a washer and dryer. We had to have them put a 220 line in so we can use the washer and dryer at the same time, it was easily fixable, and they were happy to do it. There are a couple things you do need to know before moving in here. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Pros
1. Apartment looks nice when you move in
2. Maintenance is nice
3. Landscape is clean
4. Every morning the maintenance people drive around the property
5. We are moving out this year! YAY!
Cons
1. Cheap flat white paint; it will show every mark
2. Cheap carpeting
3. Repairs are quick fixes; our bathroom has leaked a couple of times now from the ceiling, and each time a patch job was done with new plaster and paint. The bathroom needs to be updated and done over properly.
4. The neighbors; this is a pro and con - if you have a young neighbor, or a neighbor with kids you will have problems; if you have a senior neighbor you will enjoy your neighbor.
5. There is no sound proofing between the first floor and second floor apartments, you hear the fighting, and the stomping around. The stomping around is a major problem, sometimes we can see our ceiling bow.
6. Parking; sometimes there is enough, and sometimes there is not. The problem is any time one of your neighbors has more than two cars, and when friends come over for the weekend, you will find it tough to find parking near your apartment.
7. Extended Stays; These are the people that come visit your neighbors and don't leave. I am not talking about one extra person, I am talking about 4-6 extra people and all of their cars, all of the noise, and the lack of hot water. The extended stays aren't on the lease to live there, but manage to live there anyway, which is against the lease. I don't understand how management doesn't see that there are the same extra cars in front of an apartment every day for months, and doesn't seem to do anything about it until a complaint is filed. I do wish management was more involved in the property and keeping track of the activity a little better.
8. Appliances; they are cheap. Broken appliances are quickly replaced, but that doesn't mean you are going to get a replacement that is better than the one that broke.
8. Writer's Cramp; you will get writer's cramp from typing all of the complaint letters. Complaints are only dealt with if they are in writing.
