Beware of the Consession Addendum

When I moved in here 8 months ago, I read all the negative reviews. But I went in with an open mind. When I signed the lease, the office staff was nothing but smiles and continued to go on and on and on about what a deal I was getting. And in the grand scheme of things I did. I checked out the other properties in Collegeville, Royersford and Limerick and this was a great deal. And they are practially brand new so that helped. Then I moved in and the "bad reviews" came true. One neighbor had a dog that barked non-stop while they weren't home. Literally it would last for about 4 hours. Luckily the maintenance staff (who I am sorry to read left a few months ago) was on my side and the dog had to go. Then I had the unfortunate experience of having to listen to my beighbors have sex. UGH!! When I called the office to complain about the "noise". They had the nerve to tell me to be understanding because they have a son and just can't go out into the living room to do it. That is NOT my problem! Luckily I don't have to listen to that anymore because it has been replaced constant aruging and visits from the police. When I finally had enough I considered terminating my lease. I knew it would cost a lot being I haven't completed a year. But $4,400.00! The rent is supposed to be $995.00 for a 1 bedroom and I get a great deal of a $100.00 discount (that was what they told me). But apparently the consession is based on the "market rate" of the apartment which is $1,020.00 not the $995.00. So they want me to pay back the $125.00 for each month I've paid rent. Plus I moved in around the end of January and the "free rent" that I got was prorated would be added to the bill. So unfortunately I am staying til February. Luckily I don't have to live there. Wish they would have truely explained what a "consession" is.
