Orchard Ridge Gouges Tenants

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My house sold before my new house was built, so my husband and I were looking for temporary housing. With a labrador retriever, we didn't have a lot of options. We liked the fact that Orchard Ridge was close to the neighborhood where we're having our home built and they had a garage available where we could store our furniture. However, we never felt at home. We had to sign a contract that was longer than closing papers on a house (every word protects their interests, not yours). We had to pay a flat fee sewer bill of $53.33 which raised our rent from $1065 to over $1100. We were grateful that High Associates offered a three month lease which we could then lease month to month. However, after living in the apartment for one month, we found out that High Associates was planning to raise the rent after the third month. The money continued to add up. Also, one of the months that we lived there, we had a banking error which caused our check to bounce. We paid over $100 in fees to correct the problem ( a bit outrageous!!) Finally, my husband and I who were only awake in our apartment 3-4 hours a night received a letter warning us that we close our cabinets too loud, and that this activity needed to end. The walls are much too thin and you can hear everything that your neighbors do (surround sound, steps, music, and yes!! closing cabinets). There was also a lot of police activity in the neighborhood the first two months that we lived in the apartment. If you're looking for housing in the Owen J. Roberts School District, buy a townhome in Coventry Glen. With rates at 4.5%, you will pay less for a house than you would for this apartment. It is simply not worth the money!!!!
