The rumors about them are true. They are the absolute worst rental and condo company to deal with. They are distant, unfriendly, and uncaring towards their tenants. They waste money fixing things that didn't need to be replaced, they enforce ridiculous rules, they raise the rent every chance they get (ours went from $700 to $900 per month in the span of a year!), and they generally make life miserable for all of the tenants.

Before they bought the Spruce Court apartments, all of us were quite pleased with the way things were run. The maintainence people were friendly, we could pay our rent weeks in advance, it was quiet and laid back.
Since Galman Group came in the maintainence people are mostly unfriendly foreigners who just barge into your apartment at all hours, you can't pay your rent in advance cause they combine the gas bill with it (we had to have a neighbor pay it once when we were on vacation!) because it comes less than a week in the mail before it is due!, and the grounds are always noisey because they feel the need to make all kinds of repairs and do gardening at like 8 in the morning!!

Also, since Galman Group has owned the buildings, the quality of the tenants has really gone down. They seem to have no screening process for their tenants. They just let anybody rent there! We have frequently come home at night and seen frat-house type parties in our building. We were once harrassed by our neighbor's drunken guests. We told management about it but the guy was friends with someone in the office and he didn't get in trouble. I have come home with my two small children and had to cover their eyes as we passed young men peeing in the bushes right outside the entrance to our building. It is just ridiculous.

We are now in the process of moving out and based on what I have been told by other ex-Galman tenants, we can expect to get charged a great deal above and beyond our security deposit. We are making sure to take many pictures of how the apartment was left. A neighbor of ours is already being sued by Galman Group for problems with the security deposit and charges. We do not want to have the same problem. But seeing how things are run at Spruce Court over the past few years, I am expecting the worst.
