It was a tolerable first apartment

I lived in Laurel Manor from 2000-2002 so take my comments with a grain of salt, as there appears to be new management. I liked the layout of my one bedroom, the AC's & the dishwasher. I also loved being so close to the train and that there was a great park within a short walking distance. Maintenance was also really good & responded quickly.
That said I had two main issues with Laurel Manor. The first was the bugs- during my two years there, we had infestations of carpenter ants, small cockroaches, and eventually several huge cockroaches that really freaked me out. We were very clean tenants and they exterminated A LOT but it was still an issue. Also, mgmt. claimed to have "lost" my rent check and charged me a late fee even though I had dropped off my check a week in advance. They did this to me several times, including once when I left the check directly on the manager's desk, which suggests to me that they were hoping to gouge tenants with late fees.
Still it was an ok first apartment and I did not leave with any hard feelings.
