Worst apartments ever!!

So if you will trust me, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME CONSIDERING THIS PLACE!!! If not, please read on:

I'm not even sure where to begin, let's start at the beginning. My boyfriend and I moved here last summer and we were actually disappointed because one of the nicer (not saying much) of the apartments, located in a different building, was rented out so we had to take one in another building. Looking back at it, I am thrilled we weren't stuck there for our lease because there is a vet with bording right behind it and dogs are barking for hours and hours, if not constantly. I can't imagine there would be any way to ignore that if you lived in that building. We probably live in the nicest location within these apartments as we are not directly on the street but living here has been hell.

Let's start with droopy across the hall. He can't hear very well so he blares his TV. Luckily he goes to bed around 9 but he is the least of our worries. Next is Mike who lives next door. At first it was constant rap music that started at 8 in the morning, not to mention all of his relatives (5) crammed into an apartment barely big enough for one person screaming at each other night and day. It is mostly Mike who does the yelling and for whatever reason he really likes to shout the F bomb in his fights so all you hear is unclear yelling, f***, unclear yelling, f***, etc. So as if the space he and his family live in wasn't small enough, they decide to add dogs to the mix. These are big dogs that are forced into their cages all day, and we know this because we hear him kicking the cages with them inside several times a day because they hadn't been taken out all day to relieve themselves so they did it in their cage. Now as if all of the noise coming from Mike's apartment wasn't bad enough, one day we realize our cable is running really choppy and our internet connection was very slow. After complaining to our cable provider, believing it to be their fault, they came out only to discover our wonderful neighbors helped themselves to our cable. Need I say we never see these people going to work, though we are pretty sure they are drug dealers. Next is irresponsible dog lady, who is nice, but leaves behind her very anxious dog just about all day everyday. All you hear ALL day is bark bark, scratch scratch, bark bark, scratch scratch. So what does she do to calm the dog' She gets a bird!! Now all we hear is bark, scratch, chirp. The next neighbors are downstairs and diagonal from us (you would think we wouldn't hear a peep from them, right' Wrong. They may be the worst of all because when the drunk boyfriend has some beer he blares the radio. We go downstairs, ask him to turn it down. The music is turned down from blaring to loud for 10 minutes, and than back to blaring again. This happens many times per week. 2 of the 4 buildings would not be able to avoid his loud music. Not to mention his girlfriend, crazy lady, always wants something from you including rides to the ER. If you, for some dumb reason, decide to move here avoid her at all costs (trust me, you'll learn who she is).

The neighbors aren't the only source of unbearable noise around here. There is a glass company out back that likes to shatter glass at 8 in the morning which scares you to death. Also, there is a high school down the street, and there have been many fights outside my window as the kids are walking home from school. You can also hear the traffic from the two busy streets surrounding Marple Apartments. We have slept with our fan on every night since we moved here and that blocks out about 50% of the noise and we freeze in the winter. Though we would probably freeze anyway because the windows are not sealed at all. They actually wiggle a good two inches up and down.

Now as to the apartments themselves, well what do you expect to get for the cost' As I'm sure you can guess from the 100 page neighbor review, the walls are paper thin. Our apartment was really in very poor condition. The ceiling has a crack that seems to be getting bigger daily and I think we might meet our upstairs neighbors through it at some point. The kitchen is small- very little counter space, no dishwasher, and a small, filthy oven (I mean caked-on filth that is probably a fire hazard.) The bathroom is awful. The 'popcorn' ceiling is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen, the door doesn't close, the soap dish in the tub looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it, the tub doesn't hold any water, and it was, and even after cleaning it, still is disgusting. One of the worst parts of living here is the stinkbug invasions. Since there are obviously so many holes to get into this place (ie this place can't hold any heat in the winter and is even worse at not holding air in the summer), stinkbugs get in here by the dozens. One night we had to have killed at least 50. And these things are not easy to kill, we have gone through many cans of raid. Managements solution, only after they are backed into a corner, is to let an exterminator into your house while you're not home and not tell you about it. You will just come home to find things in a different place than where you left them and just hope it was the exterminator in here.

The people who manage this property are the scum of the earth. Don't expect to EVER hear from them. They never answer their phone, and if you are lucky enough to get them, they just say they will have to call you back and of course never, ever, do. I bet you could live here rent free because these people would never contact you FOR ANYTHING. If you have any hope of getting something fixed you'll have to talk to the one maintenance man for the property, and we haven't had much luck with him responding neither.

MISC: When we first moved here, though this hasn't happened for a couple of months, the power would go out weekly. One night we were dying in the heat because the power was out so there was no air, and we can't open the windows for fear of the stinkbugs. The power normally stays out for a few hours. My boyfriend managed to get a small battery backup because that is how often this happened. Also, if it snows, look out!!!! They do not plow the parking lot at all, but the businesses within this parking lot get plowed so our cars just get snowed in even worse. Also, do not count on your neighbors to alert you or even leave the building in the case of a fire. Each time the fire alarm has gone off, myself, my boyfriend, and our dogs evacuated the building (just in case) and after standing outside for about 20 minutes, we noticed not a single one of our neighbors has come out yet. So, seeing no signs of smoke, we say, let's walk the dogs and come back and if it is still going we will call the fire department. We come back, it is still going. The police come and have to force everyone out of the building. One policeman said to crazy lady do you want to die in a fire' . You actually have to tell these people to evacuate the building in the event of a fire. Even though there was no fire, I have full confidence that these people would have let that alarm go all night because the are too irresponsible to do anything about it.

In conclusion, do not be fooled by the low price of this place. You WILL be locked into your lease here and will start to regret it the second you close the door to your new apartment. They wouldn't even let us out of the lease after my boyfriend got laid off and he contributed to about 70% of our income. They also did not give us back our security deposit of almost $1000 even though the apartment was in the exact same condition as when we got it. Even though we had to pay rent for the last 2 months of our lease, we actually moved out early and footed the bill because it was unbearable living here. I am trying to save you from unnecessary suffering by writing this review. We can't even stand to be here on our days off, in fact, I think I'd rather be at work and I clean up ---- for a living.
