Fairmount Hills itself is a descent place or the money. It gives you a close place to campus, covered parking, and a reasonable price. Problems are thin walls and loud neighbors. It can be unbearable on weekends if you need to get up early.
The biggest problem is the office at the apartment store. The staff are friendly but incompetent. A dryer in the building was broken from the time I moved in until I moved out despite multiple calls. In addition, you only have a short window in which you are allowed to get your parking permit. If you cannot get it within that window, your car will be promptly towed.
Another issue has to do with electronic withdrawal. If you are getting your rent withdrawn automatically and need it stopped for some reason, make sure you get it in writing. I told them I was getting my checking account changed to another bank and gave them my rent in advance with a check. They told me they'd stop it and I inquired about how I could be sure. She said she write a note for the accountant and put it on the check. They cashed the check and took it out of the closed account. It bounced and I had to go reimburse the bank and then hassel with the Apartment Store about the money. They offered the rent but not the fees. It took over a month for them to pay me back.
At move out, make sure that you didn't hang pictures. They charged $50 for damage to the walls. One calendar was hanging on the wall that I missed, and it cost $12.50 for removal. They will look for ANYTHING to keep that security deposit.
The apartment was "okay", but if you don't want to deal with an incompetent staff, pick a different company.
