University Towers = the most ghetto place in State College

I lived in University Towers for 2 years and I must say by the time I moved out I was EXTREMELY relieved. The apartments are way overpriced and in terrible shape. Our cabinet doors fell off a few times... our fridge was so old... and we were promised a new one, but that never happened even though we called numerous times. The elevator was constantly broken... and there is usually trash in it or writing all over the walls. Also, the whole 2 years I lived there, I noticed that a pickle from a McDonald's cheeseburger or something seemed to be permently stuck to the wall in the stairway -with ketchup as the glue. No lie. It was NEVER cleaned off. When we moved in, the place was disgustingly dirty: dirt and pieces of food ALL through the sofa and armchair, papers left behind in the desk drawers, a sticky kitchen floor, etc, etc. The top of the bunk bed was also shredded and I found a piece of gum stuck to the wood. Our electric outlets would also stop working randomly. And they would rarely shovel/salt the sidewalks outside the building... I slipped and fell twice walking down that tiny slope at the end of the tunnel on College Ave. And parking' Was NEVER available. They seemed to rent out their limited spots to nearby business commuters, with hardly any left for tenants. Noise level was awful. The fire alarm would go off for no aparent reason in the middle of the night/2 am. Hell, what if there were a REAL fire' No one would know to take it seriously!

As for security deposit refund. HAH. My roommate and I cleaned and vacuumed the whole place. She scrubbed the heck out of the kitchen and we were still charged a ridiculous fee of like 300 some dollars for cleaning service. We were also charged for replaced lightbulbs... which she had already replaced before we left, and a crazy amount of money for one of the crappy 2 dollar blinds that fell off one of the windows.

I would not recommend University Towers, and definately not Associated Realty. They WILL rip you off, guaranteed.
