I live at Ivy Place, and the setup is basically the same as a dorm; you get a room, you share a bathroom with the people on your floor and you have to carry your dishes to the sink.

I should have been warned when I was promised about the price of an apartment, but when I went to the office the lady quoted me about $100 more than she had told me on the phone.

First off, I live in the basement and is it ever cold. There isn't a thermostat so when you turn on the heat, you swealter when it actually starts to work. Whatever bozo decided that the best place for the one 4-foot baseboard heating unit was under the window was beyond me.

I think it it's only my apt, (B-1) but when people walk in and out, you know it. You can hear the front door squeak open. And in the wintertime, everyone else in my building stomps their feet to knock off the snow, not giving a damn that I haven't ever gotten a full night of sleep here.

THE MAJOR THING is the smell. The tennant here before me must have had a cat, because my apartment stinks like cat piss. It's an embarasment. The smell comes primarily from the closet, so I guess that's where he kept the animal and didn't clean the carpet. I called repeatedly about it in the fall and noted it on my report when I moved in. A lady actually came over a few days later to look at it, but didn't call and let me know beforehand.

She just unlocked the door and waltzed right in, WITHOUT KNOCKING, while I was having sex. (This is a studio apt, remember') Not only did she not apoligize at all, she acted like I was intruding on her space and how dare I. I asked her to wait a few minutes till my boyfriend and I got dressed but instead she just left. And that was the last I heard from anyone about fixing the problem, and that was back in September.

When the people that come to clean (it is clean, they do it about once a week or so) they come at the worst times (7am, ect) and bang on the walls constantly. . . as if, "We can't sleep, so neither can you."

There's about a 4 minute window for hot water, and it takes at least a minute for the water to get remotley warm in the basement.

Basically, the people are rude and this place is sub-par. At least I don't have any major problems like bursting pipes, but there are enough small discomforts to make me not enjoy being at home.
