I lived in Briarwood Apts from summer 03 - 04. Overall, the experience wasnt too painful. Granted, as all the other posts mentioned, the apartments are very old and not in the best condition but I knew that going in. My biggest complaint with the property is what happened when I moved out.
I graduated in May and moved out of state. My lease was till the end of July so I cleaned before I left and hung on to my keys so that they could not re-rent my apt while still making me pay rent. I mailed my keys back a few weeks before my lease was to end. When I called shortly after that to verify everything was taken care of, I was informed that there was a new property manager. I spoke with her and she told me that she got my keys and had done a walk-through of my apartment the day before. She said I would only be charged for a carpet cleaning which was around $30. Imagine my surprise when I received my refund check a week later stating that I was charged for carpets at $70 and a bathroom cleaning charge of $30. When I called back Christy acted like she had never spoken with me. She told me she would look in to this and call me back, which never happened. To make a long story short, I called several times and left many messages. I also sent a formal letter and requested a meeting with Christy. None of this communication was ever responded to. Finally, I had to call the coporate office to get some attention. Eventually, months later all of my money was refunded. However, I know that if i had not persued this issue they would have just taken my money.
My advise is stay away from Briarwood, its not worth the headache.
