very happy here

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
My fiance and I are living here for the second year in a row, and we will probably live here again next year. We've been satisfied so far, and the only reason we're considering moving out is because we're graduating in Fall 08, and Executive House only offers 12 month leases. However, the lease reassignment fee is only $80 (which is very cheap compared to other apartment complexes), and they usually can find another renter for a one-bedroom at any time during the year, so I think we will be staying here for a third year.
(**UPDATE - We did end up staying for another semester - we found a subletter and Exec. House was able to rewrite our lease.)
We lived in a two-bedroom apartment the first year, and the hardwood floors are really nice. We moved into a one-bedroom deluxe apartment 6 months ago, and this one is also very nice. Both times we moved in, the apartments were super clean. There are a whole bunch of little things wrong with our apartment now, such as paint peeling around the corner of our door, little dents in the wall, etc., but nothing major....we just made sure to write it down on the move-in sheet.
Lisa (the property manager) is SUPER nice and will help you in any way that she can. Maintenance is really good, they've always come very quickly to fix any problem we've had. Last year, our oven didn't work, and we got a new one THAT SAME DAY. However, maintenance comes in A LOT to do various inspections (on the fire alarms, fire extinguishers, checking for running water, checking our balconies, checking our sliding glass doors, checking the heat, making sure nothing is hanging on the ceiling, etc). Although they usually send out memos beforehand, it still is pretty annoying and you never know when they are going to stop in --for example, a memo will just say "Maintenance will be checking the heat at some point between Monday at 8AM to Friday at 5PM," which doesn't really give you any idea of when they're coming.
We are a few of the only undergrads to live here, so it's very quiet (almost too quiet). We actually ended up getting a noise violation warning last year when we had some friends over for a poker game. If you like to have parties, this place is not for you.
We have friends stay the weekend pretty frequently. There are usually visitor's parking passes available, but even when we've forgotten to ask for them, none of our friends have ever been towed or ticketed. There's usually lots of extra spaces available. However, during weekdays, they do check for cars without passes and they WILL ticket you.
We had a short-lived bug issue, and they had the extermitor pay us a visit, and after that, there was no problem. The exterminator is there every Thursday.
You have to pay for internet (it has to be D&E here), but the internet is super fast and basic expanded cable is free. You have to pay for electric, but heat is free. The grounds are really taken care of, they are always planting little trees and making it look nicer. The CATA bus stop is right across the street, so that is really nice. Bathroom and kitchen are small but you'll have that in most places in State College. Laundry Room is very expensive, but there are always washers and dryers available. As far as the "weirdos" that other reviewers have talked about, there are some interesting people living on the first floor, but they are actually really nice to everyone, so it's nothing to complain about. They pretty much keep to themselves anyway. The apartments are very affordable compared to most in State College, and we recommended it to our friends.
