Overall VERY Nice

Overall, VERY nice. It is by no means perfect, but what apartment is' UC has very high standards compared to other locations in SC. Rent actually went DOWN my second year, while the community itself improved. For reference, I live in a 4 bed, 3rd floor apartment.
The parking is awesome. Only once in two years did I have trouble finding a spot to park, and that was a homecoming weekend. Even then, there is parking available on the street. Now, there's only three spots for a four bedroom apartment, but there are tons of guest spots scattered throughout the parking lot. Also, no need for guest parking passes. You can have as many guests as you can find to park (which is usually many).
The noise level was usually kept low. Occasionally some loud parties, but nothing like downtown. It is SC though, so be prepared for occasional weekend parties...although you'll probably be partying yourself if you live in SC.
I admit, the buildings were poorly constructed. They aren't level and sometimes not square...But it's not bad, check out an apartment yourself. Also, the dishwasher is weak; you have to rinse dishes well if you want them clean. The A/C runs frequently, although I didn't notice as much of a problem with the heat. Good microwave included, as well as W/D. I have utilities packaged with rent, have never gone over the cap. Cable outlets in every bedroom and living room are excellent. Wi-fi will be available next Fall.
The maintenance staff is excellent. If I report a problem to them in the morning, it will be fixed within hours. They're very friendly and helpful. During move-in week, problems do not get fixed as quickly, but still in a timely manner considering the number of apts reporting problems.
The staff is friendly overall. All non-student workers make an effort to learn names. They're very helpful and always consider resident recommendations.
Some other perks include: the new gym. Its so convenient to have a gym so close. It has mostly new equipment including treadmills, elipticals, and a bike. There is a weight machine, although it is slightly older, but still in good condidtion. The pool isn't usually open during fall/spring semesters. It is open for a couple weeks in the fall before it's closed for winter, and not opened back up until June. The hot tub is always open. Meatball Mondays are awesome. Many events in the clubhouse. Also, third floor apartments have higher ceiling in the living room, which is very nice.
A few drawbacks: The computer lab is small, only three PCs, no MACs. Usually computers are all taken. The bus stops running shortly after midnight Sunday-Thursday, so you might need a place to stay in town if you like to party. Extremely rude people like to take your parking spots...especially on move-in day when you want a place as close as you can get. Good-luck getting someone towed then...although you can understand why the staff would be reluctant.
Overall...Its very nice, even if you aren't a college student. A few complaints here and there...but much nicer than what most places in state college offer. Some people may complain if this is their first apartment, but UC does have very high standards overall. Also less rent than other complexes in the area. I highly recommend checking it out. 6TrHFn6pn7poyqNlKEgn
