Several reasons not to live in Lions Gate
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/26/2004
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
First, when you sign the lease, they let you sign a document saying that you know that there is lead (Pb) in the old paint used long time ago in the apartment. They say all you need to do is not to peel off the paint and eat it. But, when I lived there, I found the paint in the corners was peeling off by itself, and there are lots of cracks on the wall. If you have a health problem with lead by the paint in the future, Lions Gate will be free from the responsibility, because you have signed the document. If you have or planning to have a baby, never consider living at Lions Gate.
Second, not many apartment complexes in State College have bug problems. Before I moved into Lions Gate, I saw somebody was mentioning the bug problem in this site. I was stupid to guess it should be on the half-underground level. I lived on the third floor, but there were lots of silverfishes and centipeds.
Third, don't be deceived by the hardwood floor thinking it would be more sanitary than carpets. Although it looks neat, it has lots of cracks and gaps, which will expose you to the years-old dust behind the floor, which you can actually see.
Fourth, water supplied to Lions Gate is really hard. I do not know the source of water in Lions Gate and why it is different from that of other places. I could not even use solid soaps to wash my hands.
I did not like their management and maintenance, either. They are really quick to come when I report some problem, but they could not fix most of the things even after several visits. They will treat things in a very professional-looking way not in a friendly way.
As a non-pet-owner, I did not like to see the wall painted with a bunch of pet hair.
