First of all I'd like to say that I was contacted by the rental office about writing this review. I think asking tenants to write good reviews is wrong and in poor taste. Having said that, I am not sure if this request comes from the Nittany Gardens office or the Apartment Store office so I will not hold it against either until I find out.
I live in a two bedroom in the N building and I've been here since January.
Here are some things I've noticed since I've been here.
The walls seem to be well insulated. The only time I hear my neighbors through the walls is when their constantly screaming child is hitting the other side of the living room wall. The front door is a different story. You can clearly hear everything from the stair well, especially the metal doors that slam shut and the screaming kids.
The kitchen is old but I'm told that most of the other apartments have been upgraded during turnovers. My lease has been extended and handed off for several years now preventing that process from taking place.
The paint job in the bathroom is ------. The contractor that did the work didn't remove all of the wallpaper before the paint went up. I told the management about this over a month ago. They said it was a very busy time for them but they would get to it as soon as they could. My experience with maintenance here has been good. The maintenance workers seem to do good work and are friendly. The office staff has been willing to take care of all of my maintenance requests. They usually do so on the same day if they can. On occasions where they had to delay doing maintenance I have had to call them back to remind them to do it.
The management is very friendly and they have been good to me. I have seen the office re-staffed twice, with the exception of the manager, in the short time I've been here. I had some issues while renewing my lease but those were quickly sorted out by the manager.
The parking is free, no permit required, and plentiful. The only problem is that the neighbors know about this and take up most of the parking spots. Then to make matters worse many students from the nearby high school also park here during the day.
My heating and air conditioning work very well. I'm able to maintain 71 degrees all year except when the weather goes above 90 degrees. I've been told by maintenance that I am in the minority in this. I have found that the furnace is very expensive to run. In February I had a $240 gas bill. Granted February was very cold but that's still too much.
I'd personally give the place about a 3 out of 5.
I find my rent to be very reasonable for the area.
