not what it used to be

Once upon a time, when my wife and I were looking for a three bedroom apartment for our recently enlarged family, we came across Park Crest. We found the office staff to be largely helpful and the apartments were a bargain for a student with a family. I am sad to say I would not move in here again if I was searching for a place to move. The management of the complex has changed from a nationwide commercial real estate developer to a local real estate management company, and the quality of service provided reflects that. I am disgusted every time I take my trash out, because on weekends it looks like a landfill at the dumpster. The grass is disgracefully long most times, and it took this local company TWO weeks to cut the grass in the middle of summer. The quality of life in this area is rapidly sliding downward, and the new management company doesn't seem to be willing or able to address the quality of life issues like pool hours or noise complaints, and I'm reluctant to get the local police involved in something so trivial. Another issue I had with the new management company was snow removal, which isn't a trivial concern in the middle of the Appalaichans in winter, which some years can last from late October to early April here. The old company had an outside contractor who was usually onsite within ten or twelve hours after the snow stopped, and did a decent job clearing and salting the parking lots, while the maintenence staff cleared the sidewalks. The new management company has the maintenece staff clearing the parking lots with a small tractor, and I believe one truck for all their properties in the area, and the sidewalks were nothing short of treacherous this past winter. I hope this new company realizes that more and more people are moving out, becoming fed up with the quality of life issues and the now glacial pace of the maintenence staff. I have had a maintenence request in for THREE weeks without seeing anything done about it. In conclusion, it's a good thing we're moving on and moving out, otherwise I'd be upset with the quality of service provided for the amount of money I'm now paying for rent.
