Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I absolutly adore my apartment. My roommate and I looked at a seemingly endless number of apartments and settle with parkforest for several reasons. Firstly, being about 2.5 miles from campus it is quite and away from the hussle bussle of state college but a quick walk to wies, giant, walmart and other stores. Secondly, the apartments are very nice. I would recomend renters to be choosey however.
There is a great deal of varience between each apartment... ask to see several and take notes of the things you like/don't like and each and give them the list...they matched us up with an ideal, clean, and recently referbished room.
2 free parking spots... cant really beat that! I've never had issues with there being no parking and its not a problem or hassle to have friends visit and park. Parking does become a bit more scarce in the winter with snow and there is sometimes an issue with ice however
The maintenece is adequate... when we have problems they are usually in that day or the next to fix the problem. Once they did not fix corectly but came immediatly after reporting it to do it right. The complaints about the heat in May are legitamit... it was freezing for a couple of weeks, but ok for the majority of the winter. THe heat does seem to be a bit finiky, but nothing compared to things i have put up with in the past.
Noise is only and issue from our neighbors down below...and only when they are yelling, muisic is sometimes heard on occasion but is not a large issue. The garbage man however does tend to come around 7 which sucks when you want to sleep in, but that is the main concern.
My biggest complaint however is just that alot of the other tennants are not very friendly. I try to make and effort to be nice but they just kinda ignore you...but they arn't necc mean, just not so friendly. The office girls are a bit snooty too however seem to be committed to kissing your ass when needed and do try to make you happy.
All that being said, reading through the other reviews, I don't feel all of them are necc representative of the experience most recieve at park forest. As mentioned prior, just be sure to be selective when picking a room, and i strongly suggest to view it before moving in and hopfully you will end up being as satisfied as my roommate and I have... we didn't even concider switching to a new apartment or have any doubts in resigning the lease. Visitors also seem very supressed at how nice the apartments are esp when they hear the price. I very much recomend living here.
