I had the same problem as the below comment. Before I moved out of my apartment, my roommate and I spent two days cleaning it from top to bottom...shampooing the carpet, scrubbing the bathroom, scrubbing the kitchen...and similarly, ours was cleaner when we left than when we moved in. Four weeks later, however, we both received bills that showed our security deposits were taken, and we both owed an additional $415/piece. I was absolutely floored, and went to speak to the manager, who said that there was nothing he could do about it. He claimed they had to replace the carpets (though they had just been replaced before we moved in) because they were a mess. IMPOSSIBLE. However, we had no way to prove it because the carpets were already gone. We were completely ripped off and had to pay the extra money. I never recommend this place to anyone I know.

You know, it is possible to clean a carpet and it can still have stains in it. When I moved in to my apartment here in August 2007, the carpet had obviously been cleaned, and most of it looked brand new, but there were sections with big pink splotches in both the living room and the bedroom. I requested that the carpet be replaced, and I can tell you that the manager only did so because I specifically requested it. I felt bad that the prior tenant would be charged for it, but I didn't want to live in a place that had large stains all over the place. So, if he was willing to let big pink splotches slide on his examination of my apartment before I moved in, I really feel like your carpet must have been pretty bad in order for him to replace it after you moved out. Again, I had to specifically request a new carpet before he tore the old one out.

Our carpet was immaculate. We didn't party in our apartment, we left our shoes at the door, and again, as I said, our carpet was SHAMPOOED before we left the apartment. I still would NEVER recommend this apartment complex to anyone. The maintenance man even walked through our apartment about two weeks before we left (at our request) and told us that the place was absolutely fine. So please, keep telling me that we brought this upon ourselves.
