I lived there for 2 years, the second only because I didn't feel like looking for a new place. The maintainence staff got to be pretty good towards the end of the 2 years, but thats all that was good. They were on the 3rd office manager by the time I left because things like STEALING MONEY. I know this because other members of the staff gossip a lot, and talk of other tenants private information freely.
When it came to be security deposit time, that when the real stealing began. My roomate and myself were charged $280 for some spackle and $50 to remove furinture (one problem though - WE DIDN'T LEAVE ANY FURNITURE - they straight out lied!) I expected some money taken out as we did not clean everything perfectly, but I was thinking maybe $80 tops. All said and done they took us for OVER $800, and being as out security deposit was only $670 - we lost it all.
All in all it's not that affordable. The washer/dryers were always in use, so I had to adapt and start to do laundry at 3 AM. They pay for your heat (when it works). And when it does, it's preset anyway, you can't change it. My appliances were pretty new, but from other tennants appartments I saw, I was the only fortunate one. Lots of bugs on the ground floor. And if you don't have a dog, no one will talk to you - its like a bad Sienfeld episode.
OH as much as I am rambling - I need to include parking. During the school year, it's sometimes hard to find a spot anywhere near your appartment, I had to walk about a block usually. Summer time is fine though. Oh and last fall a tree fell on a parked car and crushed it, they didn't move it for about 5 months.
My suggestion - take the time needed to look around. I only took it because i had less then a week to move out of my previous appartment which was an equal nightmare.
