1. Don't expect anything to be fixed. ( Our heat was broken for over a month starting at the end of October. Called and called for it to be fixed. "Oh yes, you're on the list." I was told. Finally, I asked one of the repairmen when they were doing our apartment. "Oh, we're done with your building" was the reply.)

Our air conditioning broke during the summer of 2008. Months later, it was fixed. Not really. It stopped working about a week or two later. The HVAC man who came to repair it the second time said that the job was never finished previously.

2. The 15 maintenance men hired by Continental do nothing but congregate by their trucks and smoke in the basement (but are no where to be found when you make a maintenance call).

3. The staff was completely rude. When I called to ask about a charge on my rent, they left a message on my voice mail that was pretty wicked. Even though there are plenty of parking spaces, they will not give you a visitor parking pass for family or friends.

4. Do not expect to get ANYTHING back from your security deposit. We were charged for preexisting or non existent damages and ended up owing over $60.


Although many of the apartment buildings in State College are similar and share horrible rental companies, I feel there are better choices out there. Try looking in a town nearby.
