How not to get screwed by The Pointe (very simple to do)

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I lived at the Pointe for 3 yrs. Everyone here has commented how they charge you ridiculous cleaning and repair expenses when you leave. THe Pointe can claim its not true but everyone here is saying it and everyone I knew dealt with the same b.s. so we all can't be wrong.
My first yr there we marked on our check-in sheets w/the damage that was already there. At the end of the lease we spent 3 days cleaning the place spotless, you would have been amazed. A month later we each got a bill for over $2400 ($800 each) for cleaning and repairs which was b.s. which included the cost of buying a brand new sofa b/c of a stain on it that was already there when we moved in.
Fortunately for me I had taken lots of pictures and video of the apartment with my digital camera before we moved in and after we had cleaned. I went to the office with a CD with everything on it and threatened to take them to court and sue them. They dropped every single penny each of us had to pay and that was the end of that. If I hadn't taken all those pics and video, it was my word against theirs, in which case they will always win.
There is no question that they will try to screw you. Thats a given. You just have to be prepared for it and you will be fine.
(oh, and make sure when you get the video, you start with showing the front door with the # then walking into the apartment with all one shot, everything all one continuous shot...else they can argue that you couldve filmed a different apartment).
Good Luck!
