I am a mother of a son that had rented from the Pointe last year (2005). We were charged astronmical moving out charges. I believe it to be $650 per tenant (times 4 tenants). I was extremely pissed off at the charges that were rendered against my son. Needless to say, if you don't cover your ass you are screwed. I had filed a complaint against them to the Better Business Bureau as well as filing a complaint with several other businesses. I even had one piece of proof where they had order carpeting before my son's departure of the apartment. Unless you take pictures or are there for the final inspection you have no option to pay the charges. THe Pointe charged my son $100 garbage removal stating that he had left a vcr, a refrigerator, dvd player and other items. I couldn't believe this charge. Now would any student leave behind all these essentials..Dont' think so. I left the charge go into collections because I knew I was screwed because of the fact we did not have any pictures to prove our case. Needless to say that we did have to pay the charges, but instead of the orginal $650 charge we ended up only paying $275. This was the settlement with the collection agency. As long you are able to let the charge go into collections you are better off going this way.. The Pointe would not even try and settle with us. At least the Agency settles with you, and as long as you are quick to respond to the Agencies letter it won't affect your credit rating. One other thing.. If all these people are getting screwed, why dont we file a class action suite against this dirt bagging, slime bucket of a complex. I hate this place, but it did teach us a huge lesson.
