A terrible place to live

The Pointe is made out of cardboard. It is freezing here because it is not insulated. Utility bills are outrageous because they estimate from the tennants the year before. It is also very noisy here and you can hear everything that goes on in the complex. They also do not clean from the tennents before and my room was disgusting when i got here. Maintence does not fix anything and the dryer has now been broken for six months. The entire kitchen and bathroom is falling apart. I also do not feel safe because the complex is poorly lit and i can constantly hear screams outside which sounds l ike someone is being raped. I would not recommend ANYONE live here.

This person is right about the noise issues and being able to hear everything, but I fear they are being to judgmental and forgetting this is a college town. Yea, people are out at all hours screaming, especially on the weekend. And the poor lighting is also due to the same reason...drunk people bust out the lights. Not to mention the maintaince crew when plowing snow. If this girl didn't get something fixed she must have been praying for divine repair, because calling the office or going down there yourself gets stuff done quickly. I can't attest for the room being a mess when you move in, because mine was fairly spotless. Kitchen is fine, as well as the bathroom. |

I agree with girlytchr The Pointe is a horrible place.squee8174 must obviously worok for The Pointe because if you ask just about ANYONE who has lived at THe Pointe, they will tell you: The Pointe management is very shady. Ever wonder why despite being cheaper, newer, and boasting features such as private bedrooms and bathrooms for each resident, Nittany Crossings and Lions Crossing is filling up faster? It is simple: The Pointe problems you will encounter at The Pointe is not worth the perks they offer. Word of mouth travels fast; The Pointe is a horrible place to live. Do yourself a favor and live elsewhere. Please read below for my experience.
In August 2006, I signed a lease with The Pointe because they were the only complex still open, offering leases to undergrads. Before moving in, I asked to be put in with girls who would be compatible ( non smokers and non drinkers, moderately clean). They assured me they would. However, a week before move in, they put me in with other girls claiming that we would be more "compatible" - girls who smoked pot in doors, every night. To make matters worse, the girls they moved me in with were DC thugs; one of them got a kick out of intimidating me with her criminal record and how she once ripped out a girl's scalp. And their friends loved to mess with me for being from a suburb. When I complained to management, they refused to move me! They finally relented, however, after police pressure.
Apparently, this was a common problem because the girl they moved me in with next had to be moved for the SAME problem!
In addition, upon move in, both of the apartments that I had lived in, were filty! It is The Pointe's fault, because when they waived the security deposit, it took away the motivation to clean up before move out. And The Pointe staff is too lazy to do it themselves. Furthermore, the apartments are of low quality, the essentials( ie. garbage disposal, heater, etc) were always breaking! If you want them to be fixed you have to be aggressive (i.e threaten them with The Warranty of Habitability Act ) with The Pointe Management, or IT WILL NEVER BE FIXED. My friend's neighbor, who lived in the same building as I currently do) had their water pipe burst! It ruined most of her belongings and The Pointe took a day to send someone over to check out the damage!
Plus, after hours staff is rude extremely rude. I heard a strange noise coming from one of my apartment's fixtures (I thought it might be a pipe about to burst!) and they told ME to check it out, because they were "not going to send maintenance over if you dont even know the problem." Luckily, I had the number to Corporate.
Reader, trust me. I have nothing to gain but you have everything to lose if you move here. Live elsewhere; you will thank yourself later. Please only move here if you have no other options.
