Complex over 30 years old - and rent prices are rising
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/25/2007
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
Pros: Overall, the community is run well, and the neighbors are pleasant and respectful of one another. Great location re. Blue Route, shopping complex, and train station. RCA now relaxing the rules about dogs in some of the buildings (at a monthly cost to the dog owner). Great gardens/landscaping - timely maintenance of air filters, carpenter bee issue, regular monthly newsletter. Management is responsive to calls, maintenance, etc.
Cons: Prices have been rising sharply in the last few years - they are now renovating older apartments (community is older than 30 years). Lots of turnover in people moving in/moving out - I know a number of folks who have left because of the price increase - once they leave, the apt gets renovated and the price goes up more. Interior pipes decaying badly; balconies decaying; brickwork/concerete decaying in some garden apts (moss/mold). Power goes out in strong storms. Parking is difficult if you get back later than 5:30-5:45 at night - there should be a visitor parking area (or passes required) and a restriction on where SUVS and large vehicles can get parked. Worst - no security in any building - folks can walk right into building an knock on your door (keep locked!)
