I lived in the building that burnt down August 6th 2004 (1158 Kingsway Rd.). It was stated in our lease clearly that if the apartment becomes uninhabitable that the lease is terminated, however when we tried to get our security deposit and pro-rated rent back from the complex(also clearly stated in the lease), they refused. When we tried to contact someone who could tell us why, we were told that they would pass on a message but would not give us any contact information. We lost almost every single thing we owned in that fire, and then the complex would go and do that to us. We never did get our money back.
Also if you live here, you may want to check the smoke alarms in the hallway (if you even have them) to make sure that they work. The ones in our building didn't. because of this, our neighbor and her KIDS had to jump off of their second story balcony to evacuate the building as the hallway was already in flames before they knew that the building was burning down.
