The historic structure is only one of the charms of Sharples Works in West Chester, PA. I have to smile when I read review about Sharples and renter comments about the old building. Yes, folks, Sharples Works is an old, lovely building. When turning a 200-year-old building which was once a creamery into comfortable, clean, convenient apartments, Historic Landmarks for Living did a fantastic job of maintaining the old, brick facade, but creating 100 different floor plans in the 155-unit structure. And right in the heart of West Chester, the county seat of Chester County, where restaurants, parks, coffee, dress, antique shops, library,as well as West Chester University all offer an array of activities. More important than the the actual, comfortable living spaces, however, is the professional, competent, accommodating staff who is available and ready to respond to our needs. You might even see the property manager out planting flowers; she lives on site and loves the place as much as we tenants do. I've heard rumors of some new exciting updates happening in the not too distant future at Sharples Works. After downsizing from our home and moving into Sharples Works, I believe we've found a home for a long, long time.

After living in Sharples Works for 2 1/2 years, my interaction with the staff and management has been mostly good. I know one of the upcoming upgrades is a new alarm system. I don't know the return on investment or why this particular upgrade was decided upon. Without that information it makes me wonder why they wouldn't invest in some fire-retardant insulation for interior walls -- just spray it in the spaces between drywall and studs. I'm tired of hearing my neighbor sneeze, snore, and whatever girations he goes through after taking a shower. Sounds like quite a production. I've never seen my neighbor but feel as though we live together.

Considering health and well-being, I'm glad they decided to install a new fire system. Sorry to hear you have noise issues. Have you contacted them? What did they say?
