Jamestown Village
AVERAGE RATING
< | >
The apartments do not have concrete floors. You can hear everything from your neighbors conversations, tv, snoring and sex to loud footsteps from normal walking. The doors do not seal well either so you frequently have your neighbors cooking/smoking smells lingering in your apartment and hallway.
The management is disagreeable and lazy. The parking lots look like they provide enough parking, but good luck trying to get a space near your door if you don't come home right at 5pm every day. There are frequent water shut offs, we lost electricity/heat in the midle of winter for over 12 hours.
The apartment staff that lives in the units seem to feel like they own the building smoking in the hallways and laundry rooms and instructing you on what time you should come home so you don't disturb them walking into the building.
Several cars were burglarized in the parking lot as well.
I do not recommend living here unless you are hard of hearing and don't mind over intrusive neighbors.

I have lived in this community for over 5 years. No, it does not have concrete floors, but most neighbors are considerate and keep their noise to a minimum. While I can smell cooking/smoking odors in the halls on occassion, they have never permeated my apartment. The "lazy and disagreeable" management notifies residents of criminal activities as soon as they are aware of them. There is a warning on the bulletin board right now about the car break-ins, plus notices are given when water is scheduled to be shut-off. Perhaps you should take the time to read your notices. I pay PECO for my electric, so when there is a problem with electric to the building I call PECO! Maybe you should find a new place to live and leave the rest of us alone in peace!

I love these apartments, sure there is some noise at times, but overall it is the best complex I have lived in. I came from Robert Bruce West (prior management). You want to appreciate what you had learn from my experience. No cares of who they rented to. 18 year old residents holding keggers and beating their girlfriends outside my door. They weren't bad apartments but try getting a service call...here they are always there the next day. The staff here is friendly and quick to act on requests. Neighbors, for the most part, are courteous. I have met most of the on site staff and they too are friendly and helpful. They even shovel for us. They are quick to respond to a complaint and send letters to inform. No, say what you want, I love it here.

I never lived here but tried to and it was a pain talking to these two women in the office.
they were so unfriendly almost mean and not a little bit helpful.
we have moved here from far away and were hoping for a little understanding, but we were wrong there!
no thank you - it smelled like trouble from the start, we choose not to rent and I think we did good!

When I went in to rent from here all of the policies are what was needed were explained throughly and delivered to me in a packet as well. If you don't follow what is required whether you are moving from far or way or close by then you shouldnt expect people to jump through hoops for you. In response to some of the other comments, yes it is wooden construction but you know that when you tour the property so if you choose to live there then you get what you pay for in terms of quiet.

The apartments have wall-to-wall carpeting over plywood floors - no concrete. Therefore, noise will travel, especially in the overnight hours; however, we do have a noise policy (quiet between 10PM and 7AM) which we uphold to the best of our ability. We also do our best to notify residents when repairs will be made to the hot water boilers by posting notices in the buildings and sometimes door to door. We try to minimalize any inconvenience to our residents but emergencies will occur without notice. Each apartment has its own individual heater; even if you lose heat in the night, our emergency technicians will attempt to fix the heater or at least provide an electric heater until the repairs can be made. If electric goes out in your entire apartment, again emergency technicians are available to assist you. If the electric goes out to an entire building, then it is a PECO problem and beyond our control. To the person who found the office staff "mean and unhelpful", we have clearly written criteria for all applicants. Fair Housing laws do not permit us to bend the rules.
