Don't waste your money! Total RIP-OFF!!!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004

The general manager stuck us in a basement apartment which has not had an upgrade in 20 years. Despite the fact that there were many other units available, we were still given this crummy little hole.
The reason given was that we have 3 children. Yes, we do. 3 teenage girls. How discriminatory is that'
Another reason given was that we were only staying 6 months due to a house fire. But they charged us an extra $100 per month because of the 6 month lease. So, thats $1520.00 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment. Tiny bedrooms. Cheap, crooked, and falling apart cabinets throughout.
We did however have new carpeting. Home Depot 72 cents per square foot junk.
After a few vacuum sessions, the pile just fell over. So cheap that when a few stains appeared, the carpet could not be repaired.
Quality carpeting is repairable. Cheapo is not.
So, for a few stains, we were charged $982.20 to replace 2 rooms.
While living there, we noticed fleas were occasionally biting us. Basement apartment. Go figure. So, we were then charged $175.00 for de-fleaing. We didn't even own any pets.
Additionally, we were charged $155.00 for replacement of vertical blinds. Blinds that were 20 years old and falling apart.
They also gave us a sheet explaining what they would charge for cleaning specific items upon our departure. Since we do not live like slobs, they could not charge us to clean the oven, fridge, toilet, etc...
While living there, I repaired the soap disk that fell off of the shower wall. This happened because the bathroom above us leaked down to ours. They knew about this problem but denied it. I repaired it myself to avoid further charges.
I fixed falling apart door casements.
I fixed broken cabinets.
I fixed bi-fold doors hiding the 20 year old washer and dryer that only worked part-time.
I fixed ...
I hope you like cooking on electric stoves because they are too cheap to install gas ranges.
Also, in the winter you cannot take a shower when the heat is running. The hot water heater feeds the noisy forced hot air heater. So the water in the shower is cold only until the heater shuts off. So you will be bathing with and using hot water that travels through a system of rusty pipes.
We did however appreciate the cheap carpeting on the bathroom floor. Carpet on bathroom floors always makes for pleasant smells and mold to aggravate any mold allergies one might have.
I wondered why I got 2 sinus infections while living there.
And don't even think about having a pool party with a few friends. The grouchy old security guard ejects people not living there even though the lease states you may have guests at the pool.
All in all, this place is a rip-off and the management takes advantage at every chance. It's no wonder so many other tenants move out in the middle of the night. Its quite the revolving door.
$1520.00 per month and they don't include heat, hot water, electricity, or even cable TV. They do however include free cold water and sewage. Such sports.
And I could not understand why a tiny apartment would cost more per month in electricity than a house twice the size, but I guess everyone pays for those large spotlights which shine into your windows all night long.
And speaking of being awake at night, the frequent false alarm fire drills are always pleasant at 2 am.
Do not be fooled by the nice vinyl outside appearance of this place.
They will show you a beautiful model apartment and then give you crap.
Thr general joke, uh, manager will argue every point, lie to you, and stick it to you in the end.
DooWaaDiddiDiddiDumDiddiDum. Heh heh, private joke.
And as another reviewer stated, ----, ----, ----!!!
Beware, if your security deposit does not cover what they deem to be damaged, they will threaten to send their lawyers after you and also report you to the credit bureau and attempt to ruin your credit rating.
Springfield sucks!!!
