I have to say that it's okay. It's not tonomy hill but down in the first phase is horrible. I don't know how people live there. I find the maintenance men obnoxious at best. I find the office staff to be friendly with me however they are always talking about someone in a negative light whenever I go to pay my rent which I find very unproffessional. I find if you stick up for yourself and actually know your rights as a tenant they leave you alone pretty quick. They sent me a bill for trash saying I didn't take care to make sure it stayed in the bin. WTF' My argument: I buy hefty trash bags, I don't overstuff them, I tie them securely and I shut the dumpster doors when I'm done other than that my JOB for throwing away trash is over. You want to see who leaves the doors open get security cameras and I copied my letter to a lawyer (no more trash letters from housing). Ciggarette butts in front of my house I'm supposed to pick up in the street' I don't think so. I don't smoke. Not to mention that is the responsibility of the City of Newport since it is a City street or let housing pick them up. I do sweep in front of my house but I am not picking up litter from the streets...(no more letters from them). Maintenance coming in my house without knocking-another letter and they left me alone. I do like it here but if you don't stick up for yourself they will walk all over you. My sister was here for two weeks I got a letter saying I had an unauthorized person living with me. I sent them a copy of my lease that said i needed to inform them if I had someone longer than a month. That was the last straw I had an attorney inform them that what they were committing was harrassment. I have since not heard a peep from Newport Heights. I think they want this model to work so bad and not have another Tonomy Hill they just lump everyone into one category but not everyone who lives out there is trying to get over on something or lives in a pigsty. They damn sure get their $900 a month on time every month so I expect to be treated like a human being instead of some low-life trying to buck the system every chance I get. Lastly they have inspections ALL the time-but you never know if they're coming to your house or not. I have nothing to hide however they give you these vague times like 9-5 (like someone can take a whole day off of work). I don't understand why some of them can't be held together but everytime you turn around they want to be in your house (there's the HUD inspection, bug, fire extinguisher, Npt heights pre-inspection, Npt Heights inspection etc). Again I have nothing to hide but I don't even like people I know to be in my house when I'm not home not to mention a constable told me they admitted they go through people's things if they're not home. I was robbed before down south so having people rummage through my things is offensive and uncalled for. Lastly, the market rent people are moving out because Neewport Heights used the cheapest materials to build these things and then tried to bill people for the rugs fraying-the dips in the flooring, the cheap tiles cracking, etc...To the poster who said they didn't work for Newport Heights but sang their praises this a review board so clearly you have had a better experience than some of us.
