Although my apartment was very cool, the upkeep of the building was horrible. The rent was very reasonable, the location was decent, the neighborhood was great, and I had a cool view al the way to down town.

However these people do not care about their tenants enough to do the most basic of maintenance. Everything that they told me would be fixed on the day I moved in, was still broken when I moved out (other than the stuff I fixed).

We had a leaking roof that flowed like a river, but the only thing that they did was re-paint. The person above me and next door both stopped paying rent b/c of the delinquency of the property owners. I was constantly writing letters to complain about things that needed o be fixed. I also made sure to send a copy to the housing department. However it turns out that the property owners have a friend down there.

It took 6 months and a letter to the Rhode Island Housing department, Attorney General, and someone who dealt with the housing codes (other than their friends at the housing dept.) to get them to "fix" the roof. Even then, it still leaked. So I moved out.

I left on decent terms, and they were prompt in returning my security.

The only way I would ever rent from them again is if they put into the lease what they are going to fix, and that failure by them to fix these problems will result in a reduction of my rent.

It is a shame too, b/c I really liked the area.
