Good location, nice place to live

I have lived at this location for 3 years and find it a nice place to live. Another poster wrote that it was not, and gave some false information. Although the majority of the people who live here are elderly (as it used to be a retirement community run by the church next door) they now have a variety of ages here. I moved here when I was in my late 20s, and there are plenty of people my age - both single and with families. Everyone minds thier own business, but will be nice and say hi in the elevator or hallway. The best part is that they do not allow college students to rent here, so you know your neighbors are adults who will not destroy the place.

The management company just changed, which is great. The managers and facilities staff are now quicker to respond to concerns and help tenants.

Visitors are allowed 24 hours a day, although the buzzer system deactivates at 8pm. It is a security feature - you have to go downstairs to let in your guest at that hour, which I find reassuring. There is a security gaurd on duty every night. Your guests can check in when they arrive, but aren't required to - mine never do. Management will give you a visitor parking pass that lasts for 30 days, so you will have it on hand when friends need to park on site.

There is a lot of parking available, both indoor and outdoor. You have to pay extra for each space, as it is not included in the rent. (Garage spaces are more expensive.) The prices are not bad considering it is parking for downtown Providence. The parking lot and garage are on a card system, and you have an assigned space.

The downsides to this property are that you cannot rent an 2 bedroom apartment unless you have 2 people on the lease or have children, so if you are single you don't have the option to rent a larger space. Also, the apartments are tiled, not carpeted; and the heating system is controlled by management so they will turn it to heat or a/c at a specific date each year. That seems reasonable since the heat and a/c is included in your rent bill.

Rent is on a tier scale, adjusted by income. All utilities (except phone/cable/internet) are included in the rent. Right now you can do month to month leases as well, for a small additional fee.

Overall, this is the best priced place to live in the city. It's not a luxury complex with all the bells and whistles, but if you are just looking for a safe, professionally managed place to live in the city, then you should check it out.
